Cyberknife Treatment system

Cyberknife Treatment system:
Cyberknife system was first introduced by John R Adler a Stanford university professor of neurosurgery and radiation oncology. It is highly advanced and well equipped form of radiosurgery which delivery radiation noninvasively which is used to treat tumor including brain, spine, lungs, kidney, prostrate, neck and head, pancrease and liver. The uniqueness of Cyberknife is that it is fully robotic radiation delivery system.
Cyberknife is right option for early stage cancer patient:
Cyberknife treatment is highly recommended for those patients who cannot undergo surgical procedure due to following reason:
Ø  Patient’s health condition
Ø  Previous Radiotherapy surgery
Ø  Fear from surgery
Prominent feature of Cyberknife treatment:
Ø  Pain free with no side effect
Ø  No anesthesia needed
Ø  Patient immediately return to its normal activity
Ø  No need of any invasive head and body frame
Ø  No breath holding required during treatment

How Cyberknife system works?
It is composed of a radiation delivery device, called a linear accelerator (or Linac), which is mounted on a robotic arm. It also utilizes software and highly advanced imaging to detect tumor and patient movement and it also adjusts the beams of high-dose radiation to ensure treatment is delivered with a high accuracy. Patient lays down in front of machine then machine will start delivering radiation and it takes 2hr to complete one session.
Note: It is used to cure early stage cancer only.
Features that make Cyberknife a unique treatment system than other:
Ø  It is different from other machine because it destroys health tissue less than 1mm.
Ø  The other radiotherapy machine hits the patient from 9 sites but Cyberknife has an ability to hit the tumor from 1200 site.
Ø  Normal radiotherapy machine destroys the critical structure but Cyberknife has low intensity pencil beam which never destroys the critical structures
Cost of Cyberknife system:
Cost of Cyberknife system is 41 caror and its Treatment cost ranges from 60 lacs to 10 lacs
